As I mentioned earlier, a good chunk of the time we were in Bangkok I spent recovering and hanging out at our hotel’s pool. The most exciting thing that happened on this day was our dinner at Somboon Seafood. Apparently Somboon Seafood is a pretty well known restaurant where the specialty is….crab! Unfortunately the red curry crab (their best selling dish) had just sold out…guess they ran out of whole crabs. So instead of ordering the red curry crab whole we ordered the red curry crab meat only…which was a lot easier to eat but a different texture than eating whole crab. We also ordered a dish of garlic morning glory (not sure what kind of vegetable this is but it was amazing!!!!) and some fried noodles (can’t go wrong with fried noodles). It was a glorious meal, all the dishes tasted amazing.
If I ever found myself at a Somboon Seafood in the future I would make sure to order the whole red curry crab and definitely order the garlic morning glory. Honestly, the crab was good but the garlic morning glory was sooooo delicious.
We topped off the night getting some really good soft serve. The place we stopped at was called Twister and had many different flavors to choose from…including a random flavor…which I picked of course. For some reason I thought the random flavor would be some weird flavor or that the person working there would choose. Instead they have you pick an Easter egg out of a stocking and the Easter egg tells you what flavor you will get. I ended up getting “Tiramiss U” which tasted better than the flavors Josh and Eunji ended up selecting.
After the overindulgent meal and dessert, we took the Bangkok Metro back to our hotel. The Bangkok Metro was really nice and clean…the only confusing part was having to wait in line to purchase our tickets and pay with coins. But, nothing we couldn’t handle!
