Afternoon Tea at Westin Chosun

On a nice Sunday Josh and I went to an Afternoon Tea at the Westin Chosun with a friend. The tea service was held in the hotel’s restaurant which overlooks beautiful Haeundae Beach. I’ve only ever had British style tea service in the States so I really didn’t know what to expect from the Afternoon Tea.

To start off with the location was beautiful, sitting in huge cushioned couches overlooking the beach is never a bad thing. Apparently for Afternoon Tea the restaurant allows you to choose from various high end china sets but since we started later on in the service we were limited on our options. Our china set was still a beautiful Wedgewood design with pink and purple birds. I ordered the chamomile tea and loading it down with plenty of milk and too much sugar it was delicious.

With the tea we also had 2 choices of tea sandwiches which were served on small hamburger like rolls. One sandwich was filled with different types of mushrooms and pumpkin puree…and it was pretty good! The other sandwich was a steak and veggie sandwich that I didn’t partake in but I was told that was quite good.

Tea....hamburgers?!?! Whatever they were they were scrumptious.

And then….there were all the tea snacks. They came on a two tier plate holder and there was so much to choose from! There was only one savory snack, a really crumbly cheese and broccoli biscuit that was yummy. The rest of the plates held red velvet cake, a macaroon, fruit tarts and some other stuff that I wouldn’t even know what to call. Overall we sampled most of the items (I designated myself the designated cutter of the snacks so we could all try everything) and everything was pretty good.

I thought the tea service was very similar to what I have experienced back in the States minus the tea sandwiches which were completely different. But overall it was a great experience and I would definitely go back and love to take my grandma there as I know she would enjoy it. There’s something about tea service, since you are sitting and snacking slowly you really don’t need as much food as you think to become full. Needless to say after the tea we all went and took a long nap!
