Japan Night 3: Tokyo Tower and Zojoji Temple!

So after our massive walking session around Meiji Shrine and Yoyogi Park Josh and I headed back to our room and took a much needed and deserved nap. Once we were refreshed we headed out to see Tokyo Tower. Unfortunately we slept in a bit more than we had intended so our time in the Tower was limited. But, since we were there so near to closing time we had the Tower almost entirely to ourselves. At night the Tokyo Tower has amazing views of Downtown Tokyo, the lights are beautiful. On top of this the Tower itself is lit up with blue lights. Needless to say, it was a beautiful experience and I would definitely recommend the Tower to anyone visiting Tokyo.

The mascots of the Tokyo Tower

The mascots of the Tokyo Tower….apparently they are brothers named Noppon and the one on the left is the older brother, no idea why there are two and why the older one is injured, but they were cute nonetheless

After our time at the Tower, we stopped by and took pictures of Zojoji temple. On the side of the temple we came across the Unborn Children Garden. At the time of our visit I had no idea what the Jizo statues represented but after some research (ahem, Wikipedia) I learned that the statues are dedicated to unborn children and parents decorate them and give them gifts to help quicken the children’s transition into the afterlife. It was really sweet to see the handmade red crochet hats and pinwheels decorating the small stone statues.

To top off the night I took a picture in front of this gang of scooter riders.

Things in Japan would only get better because Day 3 of our trip we visited Tokyo Disney Sea!
